Our quest is to establish a community of ‘Panda Guardians’ here in the UK, who are committed to the protection of the Giant Panda. Involvement opportunities vary, from donating to the WWF to joining me on a dedicated Panda volunteer tour – designed by the travel specialists at Wendy Wu Tours. Together, we can help protect this magnificent species for the benefit of future generations.
What is Panda volunteering?
In September 2014, UK Panda Ambassador John Craven OBE will spend two weeks in Sichuan Province to highlight the fragile plight of the Giant Panda. Part of the volunteer experience will be to get your hands dirty (feeding, washing, weighing and cleaning) and of course get first-hand knowledge of the plight of the Panda, their vulnerability and what more needs to be achieved. No qualifications in professional animal welfare or veterinary practice are needed to be a volunteer. A passion for Pandas is essential! There are limited places available to be a volunteer this September, or to be an independent volunteer. Places will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.

If you feel you want to make a more instantaneous contribution to the conservation of the Giant Panda, you can donate directly to the Panda Guardian Fund.
The Giant Panda has always been at the forefront of animal conservation campaigns, and is a symbol of endangerment and animal conservation worldwide. Your donation will be put towards the many different panda conservation initiatives currently taking place, including connecting the forests of the Central China region in which the pandas live, allowing them to roam free and breed naturally with other Giant Pandas.
By filling in your details, we will keep a record of your gift and link you through to the ‘Panda Guardian Fund’ JustGiving donation page. John Craven, the UK Panda Ambassador, will announce the total amount and make a presentation to the Chengdu and Bifengxia Panda Centres in September.
